Bible Reading:  Matthew 16

Jesus is disappointed at the disciples, who were in the ship with no bread and thought Jesus was mad at them by a warning He gave (beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees).  Jesus asked them if they had forgotten that He had fed two different multitudes with almost nothing.  It is amazing how we forget God working in our lives!
It is here we find upon “what” (some believe “who”) Jesus will build His church.  I have heard many say Peter.  Peter is what Jesus built His church upon.  But I don’t believe that is right.  I believe it is the confession that Peter made, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”  Upon that confession, Jesus has built His church down through the ages.  It is a most beautiful and clear confession.
Lord, please give me remembrance to beware of the leaven of evil, formalism, and hypocrisy and to live consciously in your presence today.  I ask this all in Jesus’ name.
